Frequently Asked Questions about Membership
What is the overall concept of Resilience Cloud?
Community - Where the edges touch, great things happen.
The risk and resilience industry contains a disparate set of specialties - from legal services and insurance to investigations and public relations. Specialists working in each segment of the industry have a difficult time interacting with each other due to barriers, real and imagined, between each specialty.
The Resilience Cloud community puts all practitioners in one place with the goal of cross-seeding knowledge, expertise, experience, and opportunities.
Promotion - Why not be everywhere?
We never know from where our next opportunity will come. Great engagements sometimes come when we least expect them. Resilience Cloud aims to give you more opportunities for good things to happen by promoting your organization both inside and outside the risk industry.
Are Resilience Cloud Members companies or individual people?
Both can be members, but the fundamental unit is organizations. Organizations join and include one individual member. Additional individuals may be added later. Individuals may not join if the organization they work for is not a member.
How does Resilience Cloud help me promote my company?
We start by making sure everyone knows you are here.
As soon as you join, we post an announcement, similar to a press release, on the site, on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. In it, we profile your organization and services.
As soon as possible, thereafter, we conduct an interview (by email) with the individual representative, and include that interview in our R.C Chatter mailing as an introduction to you and your organization to all other members. This interview is only seen by other Resilience Cloud members, but it remains indefinitely in the R.C Member section of the website.
You get a full page for your organization to tell your story your way.
While many industry associations and groups give you a small blurb to promote yourself, we give you a full page to fill in as you see fit. It can stretch to any length and include as much or as little information as you wish. Furthermore, we’ll directly help you get it formatted nicely and looking great.
Your org’s page is your face on Resilience Cloud and it is open to the public as part of our member directory. As Resilience Cloud grows, it becomes more important and can help clients find you. It also links to your own website, providing help with SEO.
You get a full page for each individual member.
Each individual member of your org who is a Resilience Cloud member may also build out a full page profile, including professional title, bio, photo, and preferred contact info.
Each organization who joins automatically may designate one individual to be a Resilience Cloud member. Additional members from the same organization may be added thereafter for an additional fee per member. Each individual from an organization is listed and linked to from the organization’s Resilience Cloud page.
We promote the site as a destination to find great product and service partners.
As a directory of risk and resilience organizations across multiple disciplines, Resilience Cloud is a great place to find service partners. We promote the site to the general public through social media, search, and partnering with general business associations and events.
We give you a channel for demonstrating your expertise at Convergence: The R.C Blog
Your risk-related expertise is on show to the world through content you produce and submit to the Resilience Cloud blog. The blog’s content is temporarily displayed on the front page of the site and distributed through a variety of other channels.
- Your material goes on all of our social media pages: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
- Your material links back to our site and to your webpage, helping your SEO.
- It never goes away. Content posted on the blog stays there indefinitely. It is searchable and indexable by search engines such as Google and Bing, therefore serving to promote your expertise, your organization, and your own website. Content on the Resilience Cloud blog is the gift that keeps on giving.
We publish the R.C Chatter email newsletter so that all members know what is going on in the community.
The R.C Chatter newsletter further promotes new members, new blog material, and other community news and announcements.
How does Resilience Cloud help me communicate with others in the community?
No more hated mailing lists. We use Slack.
Email is a 40-year old technology. Mailing lists aren’t much newer. Mailing lists have a host of problems that make them suboptimal for building a community today, so we use a messaging and collaboration platform called Slack. Slack can be used through the web, or installed as an app on all your laptops or mobile devices.
Slack is the whole community in your hand.
With Slack you don’t have to email the entire community to get your message across. Since it is a messaging platform, you write messages instead of emails. Messages can be personal - sent to one person only, or can be collaborative, including multiple people in one discussion conference.
Slack has channels. Channels let you message everyone in a certain channel all at once. We have 18 categories of channels pre-made, and you can make your own. Anyone who joins your channels (you can invite whoever you want) receives all messages there.
Slack is mobile. Install it on your phone and you have the whole Resilience Cloud community with you always. No need to look up email addresses, just search for members to find and message them. You can message a single person or a channel easily and quickly from wherever you are, without opening an email client.
Slack is convenient and safe. You have full control over notifications so you are not bothered by messages you don’t want to be. You can set status messages to let the community know you are available or not. Interactions and discussions sent in Slack are private and not archived. Slack maintains 10,000 messages total for the community. Each time we get over 10,000 messages, the oldest ones are erased forever, meaning there is minimal data to have compromised in the event of a data breach incident. No one at Resilience Cloud has access to your private messages within the Slack platform.
Slack has 21st Century Tools
Besides just messaging, the Resilience Cloud version of Slack has a variety of tools for research purposes.
Slackbot. Slackbot is a bot provided by Slack that can be used to provide instant answers to many of the questions members may have about how to do things, right in Slack.
Growthbot. Growthbot is a tool for use in doing competitive intelligence from within Slack. Research companies and websites using basic language.
Other Platforms for communication, learning, and knowledge management are in the works!
How does Resilience Cloud help me learn what is going on in the industry?
We publish the R.C Register.
Never miss an event again. The R.C Register email newsletter is worth the price of membership all by itself. This newsletter covers hundreds of events occurring in the different segments of the risk and resilience industry around the world. We have them all! And if we don't, tell us and then we will!
Events are organized by date and geographic location of the venue. Coverage of each event includes hosting organization, venue, topic, pricing, and a short summary. A link to each event's website means you are one step from signing up. Use the R.C Register to avoid missing the events that are important to you and to keep tabs on the pulse of the industry. Marketing and event teams can use it to perform competitive intelligence on current venues used, pricing, and topics. This product alone is worth becoming a member!
R.C Register is just the beginning. We have more information and intelligence products in the laboratory!
We work to promote interaction across and within specialties.
By introducing and promoting member companies, we make it easier to engage with them. By trying to educate all members about the different specialties, we make it easy to understand what others are thinking. Using Slack, members can interact with any category, or just listen to conversations in those channels and learn.
How many member entities does Resilience Cloud have today?
Resilience Cloud is just getting started. The community and site opened for business in April of 2017 and is experiencing explosive growth since startup. We expect more than 1000 active members by the end of 2017 across 18 specialties.
Can anyone join Resilience Cloud?
Resilience Cloud membership is currently invitation-only.
Any current member organization may recommend and refer new member organizations. Any current member member organization may request membership for their own internal personnel.
